Taxpayers should only receive a W-2 if they are an employee. If you are an independent contractor or self-employed, the work they do may be the same as an employee, but they will receive an earnings statement on a Form-1099 rather than a W-2.
Follow the instructions below to correctly enter the Form W-2 Wage and Tax Statement:
1. Click "Add Form"
2. Type the correct form into the search box (W2), and select the Wages and Tax Statement (this form is the default form when Add Form is selected)
3. Select the Taxpayer or Spouse Occurrence if it is a joint return
4. Complete the form word for word and box for box, directly from the Form W-2 (in-hand)
5. Click "Refresh"
6. Click "Verify"
7. All FRM W-2 items should be removed from the "Return Errors and Rejects"
