- Return must be IRS Rejected
- Most common reasons to do this:
- IP Pin Required- Not Available for whatever reason.
- Dependent Claimed on another E-FILED Return and our client should be claiming the dependent.
- Taxpayer SSN already Acknowledged-Cases of Identity Theft (Include Identity Theft Affidavit when mailing return)
What is the Process?
Print mailable return to submit to the IRS for processing.
1. Open the Rejected Return
2. Print Menu > Paper File RT
3. Verify the Printed 1040 has the TAXPAYER/SPOUSE and Preparer signature on the form before mailing
4. Additional Items that need to be included when mailed to IRS:
- Attach all forms that include Withholding
- Address for Proper IRS Service Center (Below)
- In cases of IP Pin/Dependent previously claimed by another Taxpayer, it would be good practice to include any supporting documentation to support our taxpayer’s stance. (Form 14039-Identity Theft Affidavit or Dependent Records that support the customers claim to be able to claim the dependent IE. School records for the dependent with the Taxpayers address)
Note: If State Return is required you will need to get it printed/signed and submit the state return as well.
What Happens?
The 1040 that was printed for the Paper File RT has TPG’s Direct Deposit Information on it, so when/if the IRS releases the refund it will be sent to TPG
TPG will use the information that was submitted to them on the original rejected return. (Make sure to get the return rejected with the Advance amount you want to be collected by TPG when the funds are received)
From there, the process should work as normal. TPG will deduct Prep Fees /Tax Advances and deposit them to the proper location. The remaining refund will be distributed according to the choice on the Bank App. It would either be “Cashiers Check” printed in the office or Direct Deposited to the customer's checking, savings, or prepaid card.
